This morning on our walk down to school, Monty turned around and pointed to the sky "Northern lights up there today b'ye". And they were really there - and not too faint either, I could actually make out the dancing green. Sadly, I did not have my camera with me :-(
With any luck, maybe they will be out again tonight ... camera is on the tripod and ready for action

I miss my camera...... :(
Hugs for Tina! I hope they catch the little buggers.
We get some great skies down here some times, but I can't remember what we call them down here in New Zealand. One year the lights were so amazing, I honestly thought aliens were visiting or we about to be sucked up into another time zone or soemthing :)
Of course it had to happen after I left the place!!!!!
Murphy's law!
I never had a chance to say goodbye...:(
Hope I can go back in the spring...
Those are nice.... the forcast still gives not bad odds for nothern lights today. We should have clear skies by then too. :D
Sarah - we rarely get them up here ... ok, not exactly "rarely" as I am sure they are there .. we just can't see them as they aren't as vibrant as those seen a further south (ahem, you lucky Cape Dorset people!). I remember the first time I saw them up here, I didn't really think that they were the lights, until I heard the kids whistling at them - then it all clicked in my mind and I was walking home going "that's it? I thought the lights were supposed to be mind boggling!"
Rental - (hehe - so strange calling you that!), of course they would come after you leave; that's usually when all of the good stuff happens - right after any of us leave town! Hope you do get the chance to come back up in the Spring! that would be a hoot! And glad to hear you made it back home safely too.
