Nothing is better than waking up in the morning and hiking on down to the local strawberry u-pick. Yummy yummy strawberries in my tummy! And raspberries are starting to come into swing too .. although no local ones yet to be found.
Jackie - they are yummy, and juicy, and sweet .. I think I've eaten at least 5 pints of them (or what ever those basket things are called) since Saturday.
Literally hiking distance - it's about a 30 to 40 min walk or a 10 minute bike ride - it's the greatest!
yeah, foodmail is strange like that .. they will advertise all of this good stuff and then when it comes to filling our order it's always "sorry, we ran out of that ... or we can't ship that" - well then a) send me a different type of yogurt! all I want is yogurt! why else do you think it just but strawberry yogurt any brand and b) stop advertising things in the food mail flyer you can't send!
Oh well .. no more worries about foodmail for me ... at least for the next little while :-)
And, i don't think they even send fresh picked strawberries to the North ... we always ever got those hydropondically grown steroid fed berries from california .. while big, red and juicy .. had no flavor ...
After spending six years living and teaching in the Canadian Arctic (Nunavut and Yukon), I returned to the Maritimes to work at my Alma Mater, The University of New Brunswick, as the Media Lab Supervisor with the Centre for Enhanced Teaching and Learning. At the Media Lab I help faculty and students learn how to use instructional and media technology in their classes and projects.

I can just IMAGINE how delish those strawberries must be!
Ohhh luuuuck-y, how many people have a strawberry u-pick within hiking (literally?) distance? Not me for sure.
