Sunlight in Arctic Bay

Saturday, November 10, 2007
When I woke up this morning, it was just beginning to get light outside (9:30 AM). Being curious, and having nothing better to do on a Saturday when it's -24 degrees outside, I thought it would be interesting to photograph the days 'light' progression.

Ok so I got one of those sun lamps just a few days ago. I turn it on in the morning when I am trying hard to get out of bed. It works very well. Like a blue sun peering through the curtains, the light is blue. You can also put your face up to it, eyes closed and it feels like sun on your face (I wonder if I am burning out my retinas lol). It's pretty neat.

Ohh... I have a feeling I am going to have to get one of those ordered in .. mind you, I did get creative and put all of my LED Christmas lights that I have strung around my room on an automatic timer. So they "wake" me up at 6:30 AM during the week and at 9:00 AM on the weekends. But, nothing does beat the sun. Hope I don't go too snakey up here over the next 4 months :-)

Hey I have my christmas lights up too! Strung them around the living room, it makes the place much more cheery!

I'm eventually going to get them strung up around my living room too! Not too sure how much my housemate will appreciate them though ;-). But they will make the place more cheery!

I never thought about your LED lites! And on the timer no less! Smart girl! I've been doing some research on SAD lites - and found what they call a "wake up" lite. It's on a timer and gradually becomes brighter depending on your wake up time. Kind of like sunrise, only not all at once like your xmas lites! I'm also hunting around for "full spectrum" bulbs.
Cheaper than SAD unit, and can be used in a regular lamp.
