Farewell Darkness

Saturday, May 3, 2008
Here in Arctic Bay we have moved into the 24 hour light period ... with the sun rising now at 2:00 AM ... and not really setting. We don't get night time dark any more ... it's dusk like all night now. And the sun is up shining above the mountains that surround us at around 4:00 AM now, and doesn't go down behind the mountains until 10:30 PM. It still boggles my mind that the sun can be "up" for 24 hours.

3:30AM!? I was going to call you a nighthawk but that picture makes it oh so confusing.

ps - Nice picture of my palace window there.

Wow, and I was complaining that the sun doesn't go down here until after 10 and is up at 5. :)

haha - the sun just never leaves now .... looks like I might be able to get a little bit of a tan before heading south for a visit :-)

What a mind blowing experience. I'm slightly annoyed by the fact that the sun starts to rise at 4:30. FYI I'm home for goose break. Fredericton I guess is real bad, Jaz had to evacuate. The house is on the news and stuff. 6 weeks of teaching left, hope to see you. I will be at ELP (if they hire me back).

Joe,

I've been keeping tabs on Fredericton too ... I think one of my friends sent me a picture of your old place ... and it wasn't underwater yet.

I'll be popping into ELP to say hi to everyone (and to let them all know that I am alive :-)), but I am definitely taking my summer off - I think I deserve it... and come to think of it... I think you deserve a summer off too!

Do you still see the moon? That would be so cool, the moon and the sun sharing the same sky!

I don't know if we still see the moon ... haven't really looked ....
