I was taking the garbage out at the college and I wear birks at work. Well I hit the snow (also 5 months pregnant) and started to fall. Well I was waving the garbage bags in the air like a set of northern pom-poms trying to stay upright, but to no avail. I went down on my ass in the snow. Trying to get myself upright again was a riot cause I kept slipping in the snow and being pregnant puts you off balance. I was also just in my jeans and a t-shirt. Finally I got myself upright and back up the stairs. I was covered in snow from head to birk and now staring at the metal door handle with wet hands! Not good! So I used my hand under my shirt to open the door. At least I did this at about 7:45am and there was no one around to watch this spectacle other than the ravens who had followed me to work. What a riot!
LOL - that is a good story Kara. I just wear mine now around school as I think they would send me to the psych nurse if I was wearing them around town right now.
After spending six years living and teaching in the Canadian Arctic (Nunavut and Yukon), I returned to the Maritimes to work at my Alma Mater, The University of New Brunswick, as the Media Lab Supervisor with the Centre for Enhanced Teaching and Learning. At the Media Lab I help faculty and students learn how to use instructional and media technology in their classes and projects.
