Welcome Gathering

This afternoon we had a community welcome gathering at the Anglican Church for all of us newbies to Arctic Bay, where it gave us teachers a chance to introduce ourselves to the community and to let them know a little bit about ourselves. All of us teachers one by one had the chance to go up front to give our little speech (speech? I wasn't told I would have to do one of those! :-) , good thing I took all of those communications classes back home - haha ). After we all introduced ourselves we all were given a picture of Arctic Bay by the Deacon of the church (once I find my cable to my scanner I'll scann it up and post it).

Afterwards, we had a little indoor picnic where I had the opportunity to try some deep-fried bannock, normal bannock, smoked Arctic Char, baked Arctic Char and frozen raw caribou cubes. Being the dare-devil that I am (lately I've been game for about anything) I tried it all.

Back to doing laundry with the washing machine that does the Macarena.

Its comforting to know that at least you won't starve while you are there. Raw caribo cubes - do tell, what was that like?

Kinda like eating frozen tar-tar of some sort. Not much taste though ... and as long as I didn't think about what I was chewing and swallowing I was fine. But probably not something I would do very often (as I like my meat BBQ'ed and well done :-) )

You've become quite the dare devil. I have to say I don't know if I could try Rudolph raw.
